Lisbeth Bang
Everyday Choices
Man and woman, male and female, sexuality and gender-identity; is it not just a cultural façade? Are we alike when looking behind ‘the performance’?
Bang’s camera works in her studio with a self-timer. She challenges the concepts of ‘natural’ ways of being for either sex using herself in all roles with the tools of body language, facial expression and gendered outfits to convey those questions in her self-portraits.
An award-winning medical researcher, Lisbeth Bang, turned to fine-art and photography ten years ago. Her work has been exhibited in Scandinavia, including the East-Norway Exhibition 2007, visiting Berlin. She is represented in the collection of the Department of Fine-Art, NISS, Oslo as well as private collections.
