Bluetown
Bluetown is, according to Guimarães, “the dream of London about itself, a celebration of the beauty of its own alienation and loneliness”. To find Bluetown, Guimarães superimposed an outline of Queen Elizabeth’s face on the map of London on which he plotted evenly spaced points, a grid of geographic coordinates. He then visited and photographed each location. The following photographs are a selection from the one hundred images that constitute the entire Bluetown project.
Pedro Guimaraes is a professional freelance photographer based in the UK and in Portugal, working mostly on editorial subjects. His works have been widely exhibited in Portugal, Spain and France. Some highlights include Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña 2008, Creative Lab UNICER Lisbon 2007, Rencontres d’Arles 2003 (FNAC award).
