Vicky Hodgson
Out of Sight
Out of Sight, is concerned with the relative obscurity of the older woman and challenges the stereotypical image of a woman past her prime. By choosing to photograph women over the age of 50, who work out of sight in the office, Hodgson highlights a major element of female ageism: that concerned with scopophilia where the active male gaze and fantasy focuses only on the younger woman, thus contributing to a lack of visibility of older women.
In 2008 Vicky Hodgson earned a BA in Fine Art Photography (first class honours) from the University of Gloucestershire. She recently exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol and was an award winner in the 2008 Royal Photographic Society International Print Exhibition.
